Our Commitment to Parishes

Episcopal City Mission is committed to partnering with parishes in the Diocese of Massachusetts to develop more just, whole and equitable communities. Here are the ways you can  partner with ECM to strengthen your faith community’s prophetic witness.

Prophetic Leadership Development

  • Parish Visits - ECM believes that the Christian witness compels us to seek justice and wholeness in our communities.  We can support your faith community in making a deep commitment to pursuing justice through leading youth/adult formation forums, facilitating a discussion at coffee hour or serving as a guest preacher.

  • Praxis Community - Praxis is a community of leaders in faith-rooted communities and/or movements who want to build their leadership capacity, take risks, and call their communities into justice work. Praxis meets in small groups monthly and as an entire community three times a year to make commitments to collective action and creating a justice-oriented Church. Contact Lydia Strand for more information: lydia@lditeam.org.

  • Prophetic Listening Workshop - ECM will be hosting a workshop in Jan/Feb (date TBD) on prophetic listening, supporting faith communities to hear how God might be calling them into partnership with the wider community for justice, equity and wholeness.

  • Legal Fund - ECM is partnering with community based organizers to provide our undocumented neighbors with access to legal fees and bail bond support. Contact Ramani Sripada for more information: ramani@episcopalcitymission.org.

  • Massachusetts Community Action Network (MCAN) - A part of the Raise Up Massachusetts campaign, MCAN is mobilizing communities to work toward putting Paid Family and Medical Leave and a $15 minimum wage on the ballot. If you would like to help collect signatures, contact Luke Abdow at labdow@mcan-pico.org.

  • Protect Temporary Protection Status (TPS) - TPS is an immigration status that provides employment authorization and protection from deportation for people who cannot safely return to their home countries. Currently, ECM is partnering with Centro Presente and other local organizations to defend TPS. We will be co-hosting an action on November 8th. Contact Natalie for information.

  • Rapid Response - ECM is building a Rapid Response network: an organized team of people who claim love and justice committed to resisting oppression and responding to communities in the event of a crisis. If you’d like to be on this team contact Natalie.
