Revere Youth in Action

RYiA recognizes that healing and spiritual care are central to sustaining our justice work, especially as staff navigate the ongoing impacts of capitalism, white supremacy, and the pressures of organizing in their own community of Revere. Frontline staff, including the executive director and part-time organizer, experience the cumulative stress of defending their community while leading campaigns, and this work is often compounded by organizational transitions and local political challenges. To address this, RYiA is prioritizing staff-centered healing and care, understanding that organizational resilience and effective community engagement are rooted in the well-being of the people leading the work.

In the coming year, RYiA will use FOWH support to integrate healing, rest, spirituality, and cultural practices into both staff and organizational routines. This includes retreats at The Goddess Sanctuary in Worcester, liberatory coaching and reiki sessions with Marianna Islam, and structured spaces for reflection, storytelling, and somatic practice. By embedding care into meetings, campaigns, and community workshops, RYiA aims to cultivate a culture of wholeness and sustainability. Through this integration, staff will show up grounded, intentional, and aligned with the liberation work they pursue, strengthening internal capacity and enhancing the organization’s ability to lead campaigns with clarity, resilience, and collective power.
