Chappaquiddick Tribe of the Wampanoag Indian Nation

With support from Finding Our Way Home, the Tribe will continue building a foundation of culturally rooted healing, wellness, and community power through both in-person and virtual programming. Funds will support annual in-person tribal ceremonies and gatherings, expanded use of the Tribe’s New Bedford community space for healing initiatives, and workshops led by knowledge holders and practitioners to deepen understanding of traditional medicinal, spiritual, and cultural practices. Building on the success of Wellness Wednesdays, online tribal learning programs, and growing community participation, the Tribe will also strengthen engagement with youth to ensure the transmission of ancestral knowledge across generations.

Grant support will further enable collaboration with sister tribes and Indigenous partners, while supporting emerging economic initiatives—such as community workshops around traditional medicinal soap-making—that build long-term sustainability and help amplify the Tribe’s story and voice. The Tribe’s hypothesis is that reconnecting members to their cultural and spiritual roots strengthens morale, resilience, and collective power. By grounding campaign and advocacy work in healing, ceremony, and intergenerational connection, the Tribe is building the capacity and spiritual strength needed to advance sovereignty, cultural preservation, and justice for future generations.
