Neighbors United for a Better East Boston (NUBE)
With funding from Finding Our Way Home, NUBE will deepen the integration of healing, rest, spiritual practice, and culture across staff, organizers, members, and the broader community. The grant will support two annual retreats—one for core staff and another including civic and abundant leaders—along with annual celebrations like International Women’s Day, Earth Day, and youth events. These activities embed cultural and restorative practices, from storytelling, gift exchanges, and shared meals to grounding exercises using medicine cards and nature-based reflections. By creating these intentional spaces, NUBE nurtures connection, rest, and renewal, ensuring that staff and community leaders can sustain their organizing work while cultivating collective care and cultural belonging.
This approach strengthens NUBE’s capacity to maintain high-impact organizing and base-building work while preventing burnout. By embedding rest, reflection, and healing into the organizational culture, staff, leaders, and members can recharge, deepen trust, and build resilience across campaigns and community initiatives. These practices allow organizers to lead from wholeness, model care for the broader community, and create a movement grounded in solidarity, culture, and sustained power.
