Pa’lante Transformative Justice
With funding from Finding Our Way Home, Pa’lante will expand its youth-centered healing, cultural, and spiritual programming through the Legacies of Love & Power summer series. This weeklong initiative will bring together youth participants, peer facilitators, staff, and guest artists to engage in circle practices, arts-based workshops, storytelling, and cultural learning rooted in Taíno, Afro-Caribbean, and Latinx traditions. By connecting youth to ancestral legacies of resistance, collective power, and cultural identity, Pa’lante provides a space for reflection, restoration, and growth that complements ongoing campaigns and leadership development. Past retreats and exchanges, including visits to Boriken/Puerto Rico, have demonstrated how these experiences strengthen youth belonging, foster joy, and build intergenerational community.
This work strengthens Pa’lante’s broader organizing and campaign impact by cultivating resilient, grounded, and empowered youth leaders. Integrating healing, cultural connection, and spiritual practice helps participants process trauma, build critical consciousness, and develop sustainable leadership skills, while also reinforcing staff and alumni support systems. By embedding these practices into the organization’s power-building model, Pa’lante ensures that youth and staff alike can lead from wholeness, sustain their commitment to justice, and carry forward campaigns and community work with renewed energy, clarity, and joy.
